Just got home from what will be our last visit to Kimberly's before their move back to Utah. It was great to be back in "DC" again. It feels like we have a bond to the area. We were very lucky and got another stay at the Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City. Two of their employees remembered us, and greeted us with, "Welcome home".
Here are some random photos of our wonderful trip. You can see Megan is a little lady, and the boys are progressing physically and are great little boys. Kimberly and Mike, you should be proud!
It was a great trip. Now it's time to visit Alisha and Steven and their families!
We are truly blessed with a wonderful family!! Kid's, thank you for making us proud and loving us. Now, which one of you are caring for us when we're 80?

Face Book vs. Blogs
I don't like it that FB has almost replaced blogs. Let's promote more blogging. The pictures are bigger and better, it's all better.
Doesn't this photo look better here than on FB? Don't the 3 sisters look happy together?
Since all our kids and grand kids moved out of state, we don't have much to blog about any more, so forgive us.

The Wild Grape Bistro, Salt Lake City
So, our first winter storm arrived, before all the leaves had fallen of our maple tree. With lots of leaves and heavy, wet snow, our tree carried a heavy burden.

Being of strong stock, it flexed its muscles and didn't break. I bundled up and knocked off as much snow as possible.
Then it was time from a great meal down in Salt Lake City at the Wild Grape Bistro.

On their website they say, "You may know local restaurateur, Troy Greenhawt from Flemings Prime Steakhouse or Ruby River Steakhouse. Troy & Jessica Greenhawt have created the Wild Grape, New West Bistro, with a vision and a conscience.
Wild Grape is an award winning restaurant."
We met Troy and saw and heard his commitment to fresh and local. He's running a fine, local bistro, not a national chain.
Our wonderful waiter Eric, explained they describe their food as New West. It's fresh from local purveyors, support your local farmer, and cooked and served in hearty ways. Eric made the meal special with his knowledge and enthusiastic answers to our endless questions.

We began our meal with the "Local & Artisan Cheese Tasting, Fresh & Dried Fruit, Toasted Pecans, Warm Artisanal Bread". The choice if cheeses and fruit was perfect. There was only one cheese that wasn't from Utah. It was from Point Reyes area North of San Francisco, as special "fresh and local" area worth supporting.

Then a delicious hot squash soup. Very tasty. Perfect on a overcast, showery evening.

And "here's Johnny!" Actually, this is friendly line chef John. You can tell he enjoys his life and work.

Ah, now for the Ballard Pork Chop, Grilled Pear, Warm Fingerling Potatoes. A hefty, thick, cooked evenly, pork chop with a nice sauce, with the mixed squash and potatoes. It makes me hungry just looking at it again.
If like to pair you meal with a fine wine they have substantial wine list and will help you choose the best for your taste.

We haven't had chocolate mouse in a long time, but we enjoyed it twice in a month. First at Pastis in Cannes, France served in a short canning jar, and now here at home at the Wild Grape. I must say they were both decadent and the perfect way to end the night.
I can easily recommend the Wild Grape Bistro. It's small and popular so you might have to wait, but it's worth it. And it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At certain times they have brunches and live jazz.

Snow Day
So, this is what we saw when we woke up this morning. Mom and Dad called, don't want to go to church, too cold, still snowing, slippery walkways. They don't want to get hurt.
Tomorrow is Dad's birthday, we'll take them to lunch then.
Here's your test for today. Where were the next two photos taken?
Now I'm hungry and can't go out until I brush off the cars, and plow the driveway and walks. Wanna help?

Happy Sunday
Yesterday was specially nice, 57 degrees, blue skies, wispy could and Mom was happy and smiling.
We take Mom and Dad to church, this is a member helping dad into church.

Yesterday, I took them on a walk around the outside perimeter of Apple village. This is Hobbs Pond in the gully/wood behind their place.

I have seen Mom smile this much in a long time. It's great.

I think they had fun today. I know I did.
Today is Valentines Day. Do something special for some you love.
Now, I'm taking Dad to get a hair cut.
May the sun and blue skies be above you!

Thanksgiving, a lot to be thankful for!
So, as usual we have a lot to be thankful for. One of which is our new addition to our clan, Eli John Frost. Another is that Suzanne and I, mostly Suzanne, can travel to see and help our kids, especially when they have new babies.
Grandma Suzanne got crafty and made turkeys for everyone.

The proud new dad.

Kimberly set a beautiful table and made sure everyone was fed very well.

The newbie to the clan.

Fun at the Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City pool.

And finally, the SUZANNE'S FAMOUS LEMON MERINGUE PIE.
